We were approached in October 2014 to help raise the profile of African School for Excellence among key opinion formers (specifically by using the media) to build trust and raise awareness about its alternative peer-based learning model.
To make the most impact, we leveraged the news of end-of-year exams (results are traditionally poor) and tapped into the conversation regarding the quality of education in South Africa to position African School for Excellence as a viable alternative for township scholars.
By hosting eight education media at the Tskane school, our efforts saw us generate 22 pieces of earned media coverage. This included full-page stories in The Star and YOU as well as City Press, valued at R1,3-mil AVE 1:1.
“Cultivate is a thoughtful partner who quickly got up to speed on our industry, issues and players. Nadia and Rebecca are a dynamic duo combining analytics and relationship building. The results speak for themselves and far exceeded our initial brief. It was a real pleasure to work with them and we look forward to more collaborations in the future.” – Nicole Lu, COO of The African School for Excellence.
